| GTAAG has initiated a state-wide initiative to collect the signatures of all the Turks of Georgia, and Americans supporting our cause, on a letter protesting the recent bill submitted to the House of Representatives characterizing the Turco-Armenian conflict as genocide. |
We are currently in the process of requesting each Georgia Congressperson for a meeting, during which we plan to explain the historical flaws of the proposed resolution, present our letter (signed by the GTAAG Executive Board) together with hopefully several thousand of your signatures, and ask that he vote against the resolution. THE MORE SIGNATURES WE COLLECT, THE MORE LIKELY THE CONGRESSPERSON WILL BE TO TAKE OUR POSITION SERIOUSLY! The number of signatures collected will also give him a strong indication of the number of Turkish-Americans in Georgia, and there is strength in numbers! We just need to show that we care, and that we won't let them get away with catering to Armenian demands. We request that each and every Turkish-American residing in the State of Georgia: 1. Sign the signature sheet, AND 2. Pass around the signature sheet to any Turks or American friends they known to get their signature. 3. Once you've collected the most signatures you think you can, or have filled up a sheet, please mail it to us at our address: GTAAG, P.O. Box 942432, Atlanta, GA 31141. All signatures we receive will be stacked together and submitted to all of our Georgian Congressmen. I would like to request that you vote against the passage of such a resolution because of the numerous historical flaws it contains." |
