GTAAG Condemns the Murder of Hrant Dink |

We are greatly saddened by the murder of Hrant Dink, the Editor-in-Chief of the Agos newspaper and eminent member of the Turkish-Armenian community. Although we do not agree with all of his views on the 1915 Armenian massacres, we strongly deplore and condemn those who would silence him through such a violent crime. Hrant Dink was a voice of moderation in Turkey, and a man who himself fought for the right for freedom of speech, harshly criticizing France for passing a law that would punish people opposing Armenian genocide allegations.
We hope that the perpetrators are quickly apprehended and punished for this crime, and extend our condolances upon the loss of Hrant Dink to his family and loved ones, his collegues at Agos newspaper, the Turkish press, and the Turkish and Armenian communities worldwide. |
